New York Rangers’ Russian forward Artemi Panarin explained the reason for his refusal to participate in the National Hockey League (NHL) All-Star Game in 2024. His words were quoted by the club’s press service.
Hello Rangers fans! Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the All-Star game this year. My wife and I are expecting our second child and I can’t wait for it. Thank you for your love and support,” said the striker.
Panarin, 32, has scored 53 points this season and is in the top three in the NHL in scoring. He has 25 goals and 29 assists.
Russians in the All-Star Game will include goaltender Igor Shesterkin (New York Rangers) and forwards Kirill Kaprizov (Minnesota Wild) and Nikita Kucherov (Tampa Bay Lightning). Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin was not included on the list.
Star Weekend will take place in Toronto from February 1-3. The league selected one hockey player from each of the 32 clubs. According to the results of the fan vote, which will be held until January 11, 12 more players will be selected, including four goalkeepers and eight outfield players.
