Famous former Russian forward Valery Masalitin, who played for Moscow CSKA and Spartak throughout his career, talked about the public conflict between coach Leonid Slutsky and former Russian football stars Alexander Mostov and Andrei Kanchelskis in a comment to socialbites.ca. Masalitin believes that each side in this dispute is right in its own way.

“It is clear that Slutsky never played football. The same Mourinho did not play, Sacchi did not play, many more… There are distinguished coaches in world football who made a name for themselves without playing. Mostovoy and Kanchelskis are right from their point of view, but Slutsky stands behind their success. He achieved results in CSKA and worked in the national team. Even though it was a negative experience, he accepted the challenge. The head coach of the national team is such a firing squad that everyone criticizes whether you win or lose. The guys express their opinions – some against Slutsky, some in favor. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Athletes are right in their own way, fans may think differently. There is no need to consider the senses here. But we need to approach the issue objectively: He achieved success, that’s a fact, he didn’t play football, that’s also a fact,” Masalitin emphasized.

Mostovoy and Kanchelskis regularly criticize Slutsky, stating that he cannot understand the game at their level because he did not have a professional player career and that he is a random person in football. The expert answers this according to how many years he has been training and how many trophies he has won.
