“Ovechkin has such natural health that it makes us hope that these are not age-related problems. There are trained people who just swing, and there are people who swing naturally. It seems to me that Ovechkin is both.
What I see from the outside, from my perspective, is age, no matter how you look at it, it still can’t be fooled. Second point: the team is not playing as well as it did three years ago,” Weisfeld said.
This season, Ovechkin appeared on the ice in 33 NHL games and recorded six goals and 14 assists. The Russian player scored only one goal in his last 18 matches.
In total, the player scored 828 goals during his time in the NHL. The difference between Ovechkin, who holds the league record for most goals in NHL history, and Wayne Gretzky is 66 goals.
