Former football player of the USSR national team and Moscow Spartak Evgeny Lovchev was chosen as the best football player of 2023 in Russia. His words are quoted “Sports Express”.
“The best player in Russia in 2023? Artem Dzyuba. Yeah, he’s weird. But he also scores goals and becomes the leader of the team. All football revolves around him now,” Lovchev said.
Dziuba signed a contract with Lokomotiv last season. Later, the player and the club extended the contract under the 1+1 plan.
This season, Dzyuba played 16 matches in the Russian Championship and four matches in the National Cup and scored four goals and three assists. Last season, the striker shared the title of the team’s top scorer with Izidor and Miranchuk, playing for only half of the season.
Dzyuba defended the colors of the Russian national team from 2011 to 2021. The striker played 55 matches in the national team and scored 30 goals. Along with Alexander Kerzhakov, he is the top scorer in the history of the Russian national football team.
