General Director of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) Alexander Kogan appreciated the free number choreographed by Eteri Tutberidze’s student Kamila Valieva to the music of the series “The Boy’s Word” at the 2024 Russian Championships. “There is blood on the asphalt,” he declared, declaring the athlete’s uniqueness. His words guide the way RIA News.

“I haven’t watched the series, but that doesn’t matter. Kamila is a unique skater and is always interesting to watch. I’m primarily interested in what’s happening on the ice. It’s definitely not about the musical accompaniment, it’s about the program that Kamila executed perfectly on the ice,” Kogan said.

The figure skater sang the song “Pyala” performed by the Aigel group in Tatar language.

In the championship, Valieva took third place. In the free program, a figure skater fell out of a quad sheepskin coat. Another student of Tutberidze, Adelia Petrosyan, won the tournament. Second place was taken by Sofia Muravyova (student of Evgeni Plushenko). After the short program, Valieva took the lead, almost three points ahead of Petrosyan.

In the 2023/24 season, Valieva took first place at the Russian Grand Prix stage in Moscow and fourth at the Kazan stage.

After Valieva won the team competition at the Beijing Olympics, a scandal broke out around Valieva when it was announced that traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were detected in a doping test. Despite this, she was allowed to compete in the individual championship and finished fourth.

Valieva’s case is being considered by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The hearing was held in September, but the court postponed the case to November for the preparation of additional documents. CAS will issue an opinion at the end of January 2024.

Previously the group “Aigel” appreciated Valieva’s loan to the soundtrack of “The Boy’s Word”.
