The press service of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) responded to information that two Ak Bars hockey players requested the league to terminate their contracts with the club due to discrimination. The KHL representative’s words are quoted as follows: “Match TV”.
“According to paragraph 1 of Article 35 of the KHL legal regulations, in case of gross violation of the terms of the contract by the club, the contract may be terminated on the initiative of the hockey player by applying to the disciplinary committee. Such a violation could be sports discrimination against a hockey player. KHL said it should be taken into account that such cases should be evaluated individually according to the specific circumstances of the case.
Shumi Babaev, manager of Ak Bars players Nikita Evseev and Damir Zhafyarov, previously stated that the hockey players intend to terminate their contract with the club.
Zhafyarov, Filip Gustavsson and Dmitry Osipov from SKA St. As a result of his exchange to St. Petersburg, he moved to Ak Bars Kazan on June 1, 2023. The 29-year-old forward has appeared in 16 games in the current KHL season and recorded one goal and one assist.
19-year-old Evseev has been playing for Ak Bars since 2022. He played in 19 matches this season and scored 1+2 goals.
Ak Bars is in seventh place in the Eastern Conference.
