Olympic champion Kamila Valieva told about her conversation with Elizaveta Tuktamysheva at the Russian Championships a few years ago. His words were quoted “Sports Express”.
“Everything in the short program was as good as it could be right now. I am slowly progressing at my own pace, I need to not lose courage, draw conclusions and continue working. An example for me is Elizaveta Tuktamysheva. I remember at the last tournament in Chelyabinsk, I was 13-14 years old and he said that this was my 12th or 13th Russian Championship. And I’m almost that old! So that’s the goal,” Valieva said.
Valieva finished third at the Russian Championships. In the free program, a figure skater fell out of a quad sheepskin coat. Another student of Eteri Tutberidze, Adelia Petrosyan, won. Second place was taken by Sofya Muravyova (student of Evgeni Plushenko).
In the 2023/24 season, Tuktamysheva announced that she was taking a break from her professional career. Last season, the skater became the winner of the 4th stage of the Russian Grand Prix in Moscow and the 6th stage in Perm. She won the bronze medal at the Russian Championship last year, losing only to Sofia Akatieva and Kamila Valieva.
