Stanislav Cherchesov, former coach of Spartak Moscow and the Russian national team, may be the head coach of Istanbul Beşiktaş. This was reported by NTVSport.

According to the source, the 60-year-old specialist is on the shortlist of the Turkish club, which parted ways with coach Riz Chalimbay after the 1:3 defeat against Alanyaspor.

Besides the Russians, Beşiktaş is led by Fabio Cannavaro, Slaven Bilic, Jorge Sampaoli, Frank de Boer, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Bruno Genesio.

Cherchesov started coaching the Russian national team in 2016. At his home World Cup, the team led by him managed to reach the quarter-finals, where they lost to the tournament’s finalists, the Croatian national team. He was fired after the team’s unsuccessful performance at the 2020 European Championship, held in the summer of 2021.

Cherchesov took over the leadership of Hungarian Ferencvaros at the end of December 2021. He led the team to victory in the championship and the National Cup. He was fired after being eliminated from Champions League qualification in July 2023.
