In the first period, Matt Boldy and Marco Rossi made the score 2-0 in favor of the home team. One of the assists for the first goal was Russian striker Kirill Karpizov.
David Savard and Nick Suzuki later tied the game. In the 49th minute, Brock Faber converted the power play and Kaprizov assisted again. Juraj Slafkovski equalized with four minutes left in the match. In overtime, Kaprizov scored a goal and brought victory to his team.
The Russian forward played in 31 games in the NHL this season and scored 11 goals and 20 assists.
Last season, during the NHL regular season, the Russian forward played in 67 games for Minnesota, scoring 40 goals and making 35 assists. Ovechkin became the fifth most productive Russian after Malkin, Panarin and Kucherov.
