Mostovoy explained why Moscow is the capital of football

Alexander Mostovoy, former football player of Spartak Moscow and the Russian national team, admitted that he sees Moscow as the capital of football. His words were quoted by Sport Express.

“For me, Moscow is of course the capital of football. In this city there are many winning teams and trophies not only in Russia, but also in the USSR,” said Mostovoy.

This season, four clubs from Moscow are participating in the Russian Premier League (RPL): CSKA, Spartak, Dynamo and Lokomotiv. He also won the last five championships in Russia in St. Petersburg – Zenit club won.

Krasnodar entered the winter break as the leader of the national championship, collecting 38 points after 18 rounds. In the 18th round, Vladimir Ivich’s team defeated CSKA with a score of 1:0. St. Petersburg Zenit is in second place with two points missing. Dinamo Moscow (32 points) completed the top three.

In the spring of 2022, the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) decided to suspend the participation of the Russian national team and all Russian clubs in all competitions controlled by these organizations.
