Istanbulspor management unilaterally decided to end the Turkish Championship match early in the second half, as they were not satisfied with the referees’ decisions in the first half. This was reported by TRT Haber TV channel.
The match between İstanbulspor and Trabzonspor will take place in Istanbul on December 19. At the end of the first half, Trabzonspor won with a score of 2-1. The football club announced on social media X that the match was postponed due to “opponent players leaving the field” in the 73rd minute.
According to TRT Haber, Istanbulspor President Ecmel Sarıyalıoğlu protested against the referees in the first half and instructed the players to leave the game. Referee Ali Shansalan and his assistants went to the dressing rooms. Club vice president Ömer Saral commented on the incident on social network X succinctly with the following words: “It does not matter what the cost of this will be.”
Ankaragücü President Faruk Koca attacked the referee of the Rizespor match, Halil Umut Meler, on December 11, punched him in the face and threw him to the grass. Thereupon, the crowd started kicking the judge’s head.
The reason for such an aggressive reaction from Ankaragücü President and his colleagues was that Halil Umut Meler canceled his team’s goal in the first half and showed a red card to striker Ali Sou in the second half, leaving Ankaragücü in the minority. Despite this, the team was very close to victory, but missed the goal of former CSKA striker Adolfo Gaich in the 97th minute (1:1).
