Millionaire blogger and head of the all-Russian people’s movement “Healthy Motherland” Ekaterina Leshchinskaya said in an interview with socialbites.ca that in the modern world, children spend more and more time in front of gadgets and lose interest in physical activity. But according to the blogger, sports should play an important role in children’s lives, as it improves health and also helps the child’s emotional and social development.
Leshchinskaya suggested three ways to motivate a child to temporarily give up gadgets and engage in physical activity.
“First of all, encourage your child through play. Children respond vividly to activities created in game format. Therefore, adding the game dimension to sports can be a strong source of motivation for them. Parents can also find games to associate with physical activity, such as jumping, running or kicking a ball. Here you should also not forget about encouragement through praise and small rewards for active participation.
Second, involve your child in joint activities. Exercising as a family can be a great incentive for children. It is important for them to engage in physical activity with their loved ones – it is precisely such moments that subsequently create positive associations with sports in the child’s mind and form a positive attitude towards a healthy lifestyle. Moreover, parents’ interest in sports inspires their children.
Third, help your child choose the right sport. It is important to remember that every child is unique. For this reason, even the most popular sports cannot appeal to every child. Finding appropriate physical activity that interests your child can greatly increase his or her motivation. Give your child a choice; give her the opportunity to visit different clubs and departments so she can choose what she is really interested in doing,” Leshchinskaya said.
