One of the organizers of the exhibition tournament in Bourg-de-Page (France) said that Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk was initially ready to play against Russian Mirra Andreeva. His words are quoted sports.

“She said it was okay but she wouldn’t shake his hand like in WTA tournaments. Marta was subjected to great pressure on social networks. Sunday morning he came and played with the guys in the club. And she gave us this news. He doesn’t want to play after receiving threats.

“The tournament organizer just wants to rectify the situation so that they stop threatening him on social networks,” he said.

A few hours before the final match against Andreeva, Kostyuk refused to go on the field. He was replaced by French tennis player Yanis Ghazouani Duran. Andreeva lost to her in two sets.

Andreeva is ranked 57th in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings. Polish representative Iga Swiatek continues to lead with 9295 points. She was followed by Belarusian Arina Sabalenka (9050 points). US representative Cori Gauff ranks third with 6580 points.
