National Hockey League (NHL) New York Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin in an interview Sports24 He talked about what was missing in Russia.

Sorokin admitted that he misses Russian national dishes, especially Olivier salad, vinaigrettes and soups. “I’m used to local food now. Everything in moderation. “What I miss most in Russia is chicken cutlets with mashed potatoes,” said the hockey player.

In July, Sorokin signed a new long-term contract with the Islanders. The eight-year agreement will come into force from the end of the current contract in the 2024/25 season. Under the new contract, he will receive $8.25 million per season ($66 million total), making him one of the highest-paid goaltenders in the league.

Sorokin became the only Russian hockey player to receive an individual award at the end of the 2022/23 season. He was among the candidates for the Vezina Trophy, the award given to the best goaltender of the NHL season, but ultimately finished only second, with the winner of the award going to Linus Ullmark of the Boston Bruins.

Selected by the Islanders in the third round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, 28-year-old Sorokin also played for CSKA Moscow and Metallurg Novokuznetsk throughout his career.

As part of the Russian national team, Sorokin became the 2018 Olympic champion. He has three bronze medals at the world championships.
