“I am proud of him! He is so unique, strong and brave that he shows us that anything is possible, that even if you are seriously ill, you can come back. He is an example to all of us. Pride and that’s it! I will gladly go to the show where Roman will take part, I will look forward to his performance,” he said Tarasova.
At the beginning of January 2023, Roman Kostomarov was hospitalized after New Year’s performances at an open-air show. It was reported that he was in intensive care due to pneumonia and was connected to a ventilator, and his condition was evaluated to be extremely serious. He later received treatment in Kommunarka. Parts of his arms and legs were amputated. At the beginning of July 2023, the skater was discharged from the hospital.
Kostomarov is the champion of the 2006 Olympic Games. He later won the gold medal in ice dancing with his partner Tatyana Navka.
