National Hockey League (NHL) Washington Capitals fans reacted harshly to Alexander Ovechkin’s assist in the regular season game against the Dallas Stars.
The fans gathered on the Caps’ field started shouting the name of the Russian player, some of them stood up from their seats and applauded the player’s effective move.
The 38-year-old striker recorded the anniversary points in the 50th minute of the match. Ovechkin, along with Anthony Mantha, assisted Dylan Strome and had an assist.
The match against Dallas took place at Capital One Arena in Washington. The teams could not find a winner in regular time; Three periods ended with a score of 4:4. The teams could not score in overtime and Dallas came out stronger in the penalty shootout. Jason Robertson hit the winning shot.
This season, Washington Capitals captain Ovechkin appeared in 23 games in the National Hockey League regular season and scored five goals and ten assists.
