Ovechkin moves closer to his personal NHL anti-record

Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL) is approaching a personal anti-record in number of goalless games.

It was the eighth consecutive game that the 38-year-old forward failed to score in the regular season match against the Dallas Stars. Ovechkin’s anti-record in the NHL is a ten-game streak without a goal scored, which occurred in February and March 2017.

During the game against Dallas, Ovechkin made an assist and scored his 1,500th point in the NHL. While the 38-year-old striker got the anniversary point in the 50th minute of the match, Ovechkin made an assist by assisting Dylan Strome along with Anthony Mantha.

This season, Washington Capitals captain Ovechkin appeared in 23 games in the National Hockey League regular season and scored five goals and ten assists. The Russian striker has not been able to score a goal in the last eight matches.
