Russian Hurricanes goalkeeper Pyotr Kochetkov entered the field from the first minutes, but was substituted after missing three goals, playing 5 minutes 46 seconds. Finn Antti Raanta took his place on the ice. Defender Dmitry Orlov and forward Andrei Svechnikov were not effective.
With this win, Edmonton ranked sixth in the Pacific Group with 21 points from 23 matches. Carolina sits second in the Metropolitan Division with 29 points from 25 games.
