Lugo advanced to the second stage of the tournament after eliminating Antoniano 1–0, with a goal from Leandro Antonetti. The team led by Pedro Munitis failed to overcome the first round in the most recent edition of the tournament.
For their part, the Rojillos defeated Utebo 2-1 on their cup debut, with goals from Pablo Tomeo and Ivan Durdov. The team now in charge of Alessio Lisci reached the second stage of the competition last season.
