International federations have asked the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to allow neutral athletes from Russia to participate in the 2024 Olympics in Paris. This is stated in organization press release.
“Representatives of international summer sports federations have asked the IOC to declare neutral athletes who have qualified or will remain eligible to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. “They also requested that a decision be made as soon as possible to clarify all Olympic qualifying procedures and all athletes involved.”
At the end of February 2022, the IOC issued a call to international sports federations and recommended that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions.
At the meeting of the IOC Executive Committee on March 28, 2023, it was proposed to allow the Russians to remain in neutral status if the athletes are not actively involved in supporting military operations. The final decision on the admission of Russians to the Games has not yet been made. The Olympics will start in July 2024.
