Russian skater calls for Olympic medals to be returned to Russian team in team tournament

World and European ice dancing champion Nikita Katsalapov answered the question of what needs to be done for him and his partner Victoria Sinitsina to return to the ice. His words are quoted RIA News.

“This question is interesting, even philosophical to a point, but there is no answer to it right now. I can probably only say that the return conditions can only be pleasant.

Worried about the problem with Olympic medals? Honestly, it’s a lot. We want a fair solution as soon as possible. And so that our entire team gets its well-deserved medals back,” said Katsalapov.

At the 2022 Olympic Games held in Beijing, the Russian team consisting of Kamila Valieva, Mark Kondratyuk, Anastasia Mishina/Alexander Gallyamov, Victoria Sinitsina/Nikita Katsalapov won the gold medal in the team tournament. The USA team finished second and Japan came third.

The awarding of awards to the winners and runners-up of the team tournament was postponed until the decision on the doping case of Kamila Valieva. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) is expected to rule in early 2024.
