Olympic figure skating champion Roman Kostomarov spoke about the upcoming operation, which, in his opinion, should be carried out in the spring. His words are quoted TASS.
“There are so many different things to do now, to work, and you will have to go to hospital for a month: you have to have plastic surgery, monitor your recovery and make sure the prosthesis fits. So most likely it will happen this spring,” Kostomarov said.
At the beginning of January 2023, Roman Kostomarov was hospitalized after New Year’s performances at an open-air show. It was reported that he was in intensive care due to pneumonia and was connected to a ventilator, and his condition was evaluated to be extremely serious. He later received treatment in Kommunarka. Parts of his arms and legs were amputated.
At the beginning of July 2023, the skater was discharged from the hospital. On June 26, Kostomarov posted a video of himself training with prosthetic legs.
Kostomarov is the champion of the 2006 Olympic Games. He later won the gold medal in ice dancing with his partner Tatyana Navka.
