Three-time Olympic champion in figure skating and State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina responded to the request of Russian dance couple Annabel Morozov/Igor Eremenko to change her citizenship. His words were quoted Sports24.
“I don’t remember much about Morozov and Eremenko, so I’m not at all upset that they decided to change their citizenship. It’s so sad when people walk away from life and it’s just an escape. “Good luck,” Rodnina said.
On November 29, RIA Novosti reported that Morozov and Eremenko were considering the idea of changing their sports citizenship to French. The skaters also left their mentor Anzhelika Krylova, with whom they worked this season. The couple is currently moving to the United States, where they will be under the supervision of their partner’s father, coach and choreographer Nikolai Morozov. It has been reported that the skaters have already left Russia.
This season, Morozov/Eremenko could not compete in any stages of the Russian Grand Prix due to their partners’ injuries. The pair also failed to qualify for the Russian Championships.
Previously reportedMorozov and Eremenko plan to continue working with Krylova despite their departure to the United States.
