Olympic champion and two-time Stanley Cup champion Dominik Hasek once again criticized the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Russians’ performance in the league. His words are quoted TVNOVINY.sk.
“I personally wrote a private letter to Gary Bettman at the beginning of the CBO. I also wrote a public letter to him for the second time when he was in the European Parliament at the end of last year. I can press, but at the moment they are not interested in disqualifying Russian hockey players from the NHL.
“That’s why I condemn now not only the Russian players, but above all the NHL for allowing them to play.”
At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) appealed to international sports federations, recommending that domestic and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions.
After this, various international sports organizations began to exclude Russian athletes from competitions.
The NHL abandoned the idea of banning the admission of Russians. Local hockey players continue their performance in the league.
