English football club Manchester City’s Norwegian forward Erling Haaland broke two new records in the Champions League. ESPN FC reported this on social network X (formerly Twitter).

The Norwegian scored his 40th goal in European club competition by scoring the goal in Leipzig in the fifth round of the Champions League group stage. Haaland became the fastest player to reach 40 goals in the Champions League. He needed 35 meetings for this. In addition, the striker broke Kylian Mbappe’s record and became the youngest player to score 40 goals in the Champions League (23 years and 130 days).

The match between Man City and Leipzig ended with a strong victory for the English with a score of 3:2.

In the first half, the guest team’s striker Lua Openda scored a double goal. He scored in the 13th and 33rd minutes. While Erling Haaland reduced his team’s deficit in the 55th minute, Phil Foden equalized in the 70th minute. Manchester City’s forward Julián Alvarez scored the winning goal of the match.
