Alexander Ovechkin, Russian forward for the National Hockey League (NHL) Washington Capitals, recalled his three playoff series with the Pittsburgh Penguins, after which the Penguins won the Stanley Cup in 2009, 2016 and 2017. His words were quoted by The Athletic.
“I felt like everything I did wasn’t enough. All these goals. All those glasses. Who cares? In the end, they won,” the Russian said.

Due to the lockout, Ovechkin and Crosby made their NHL debuts in the same season – in the 2005/06 championship.
The 38-year-old Russian has 1,497 career points (827 goals, 670 assists) in 1,364 NHL games. The 36-year-old Canadian player scored 1,526 (563+963) points in 1,210 matches.
Crosby has won three Stanley Cups so far in his career, while Ovechkin has one.
Ovechkin played in 17 games in the NHL this season and recorded 5 goals and 7 assists. The difference between the Russian player who scored the most goals in the league and Wayne Gretzky is now 67 goals.
