Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight champion Petr Yan has announced his intention to reclaim the promotion’s belt. Yan’s words were quoted Sports24.
“Our goal is to get the belt back. The goal is to get back into positions where a fight for the belt is inevitable. When you’re in a position where you have to fight for the belt,” Yang said.
At the end of September, the Russian fighter announced that he had undergone surgery. In his last three fights, Yang has lost to Americans Aljamain Sterling and Sean O’Malley, as well as Georgian Merab Dvalishvili. Yang is a former UFC champion.
Ian has 16 wins and five losses. At the end of September, the athlete’s manager Sayat Abdrakhmanov denied information that his ward will have his next fight on December 9 at the UFC tournament in China against local fighter Song Yadong.
