Martin Biron, a former goaltender for several National Hockey League (NHL) clubs, believes Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin will not score 30 goals in the current regular season. Biron quotes his words TSN.
“Isn’t Ovechkin going to score 30 goals this season? I agree, that’s what I thought when I looked at the Washington roster even before the season started. And now Beckström is gone. Most of them don’t work like they used to. He only has 4 goals against goalkeepers. So at this rate, he will score 14-15 goals against goalkeepers,” Biron said.
This season, Ovechkin played in 15 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) and recorded five goals and seven assists. The difference between the Russian player who scored the most goals in the league and Wayne Gretzky is now 67 goals.
Washington is in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings with 22 points. In the next game, Washington will host the Edmonton Oilers.
Former Olympic champion Darius Kasparaitis statedHe wants Ovechkin to break Gretzky’s record.
