Calgary Flames’ Russian forward Nikita Zadorov was involved in a fight during a National Hockey League (NHL) regular season game against the Nashville Predators.
In the second period, the Russian player got into a fistfight with Predators defenseman Jeremy Lauzon. Zadorov needed less than 20 seconds to get his opponent on his shoulder blades. The referees of the meeting immediately separated the hockey players. As a result of the incident, the Canadian and Russian Flames player received a large fine for the fight. Lauzon was also given a small fine for tripping.
The meeting ended with a 4:2 win for Nashville. Zadorov did not show any effective actions.
Zadorov has been playing in the NHL since 2013. The defenseman has been playing for the Calgary Flames since 2021. He also defended the colors of Chicago, Colorado and Buffalo at different times. Last season, the Russian player played 82 matches in the regular season and scored 14 goals and 8 assists. Zadorov played 18 matches (1+5) this season.
In his last interview, Zadorov condemned Russia and talked about the huge prize money given to the Russian team.
