Russian midfielder Alan Dzagoev announced that he is ending his professional football career. This was reported by official site The Greek club Lamia, where the midfielder has been playing in recent months.

“Lamia respects the decision of this great actor, thanks him for his cooperation and wishes him success in his life!” – the club said in a statement.

Dzagoev, 33, was transferred to Greek Lamia at the end of September, made his debut on October 21 and played only two matches for the team before suffering a knee injury. The decision to end a career is often associated with injuries, among other things.

Dzagoev played for CSKA from 2008 to 2022. With the club he became champion three times and won the Russian Cup and Super Cup four times. He spent the 2022/23 season at Rubin Kazan, which he left in the summer of 2023. One of the reasons why Rubin refused to renew the contract with the football player was: become Frequent muscle injuries received by Dzagoev.

In total, he played 435 matches at club level, scoring 89 goals and providing 95 assists. As part of the Russian national team, Dzagoev played 59 matches, in which he scored nine goals. The midfielder participated in the 2012 European Championship and the 2014 and 2018 World Championships as part of the national team.
