Kazan hosted the “Games of the Future” motor rally, which will be held in the capital of Tatarstan in 2024, the first tournament in the history of international competitions where sports, science and technology intersect. Before the games start, the main cup of the tournament will visit 7 regions of Russia. The final point of the journey of the main symbol of the international tournament will be the Baikonur Cosmodrome, and from there the trophy will fly into space.
The first stop of the cup in Tatarstan was Innopolis.
The convoy accompanying the main prize of “Games of the Future” was welcomed by the mayor of the city, Ruslan Shagaleev, together with the students of Innopolis University.
“We are happy to welcome the Cup and will look forward to its return from space at the Future Games in 2024,” Shagaleev said.
Participants in the trophy ride at the university were shown advanced developments in robotics: they presented a sorting robot, talked about the principles of operation of an external manipulator, and everyone was able to independently control the robotic dog. Afterwards, the guests chatted with Russian students who are video game developers.
Additionally, the Future Games laureate visited the Kazan family center, the URAM extreme park and the Kazan Kremlin.
Then he was introduced to the students of “School 21” in Sber, where IT specialists are trained.
Then the convoy appeared before the visitors of the eponymous IT park. Bashir Rameev. Guests of the event had the chance to watch matches of professional Dota 2 teams, take photos with the trophy and get an autograph from Alexander “Paradeev1ch” Paradeev, one of Russia’s most popular Twitch streamers.
The head of the “Games of the Future” project, Igor Stolyarov, attended the events in Kazan. He explained that the idea of sending the Cup into space arose because Russia was developing a space program whose principles (innovation and manufacturability) coincided with the principles of the tournament.
“The tournament includes not only sports and e-sports, but also many technological and innovative disciplines. Drone races, sports programmes, robot wars and cybattles, this is out of reach for many countries. We will hold such competitions in 2024 as well. That’s why space is so close to us,” said Stolyarov.
The convoy, carrying the main symbol of the “Games of the Future”, will continue its journey in Russian cities. On November 21, the cup will arrive in Ulyanovsk.
The launch of the capsule and the trophy to the ISS will take place on December 1. The trophy will return from space in 2024 and will be displayed at the Future Games to be held in Kazan from February 23 to March 3, 2024.
