Philip Shvetsky, the doctor of the Russian figure skating team participating in the 2022 Olympic Games, said that he was concerned about the doping case of Eteri Tutberidze’s ward Kamila Valieva. His words are quoted “Sports Express”.
“Tutberidze is a direct participant in all this. He is worried, so he has the right to say something, as I understand it, it was dedicated to the coach’s day. People in this profession have a difficult fate. Coaches face a variety of challenges, from raising children to winning state records. Look for something different here… This can be done anywhere,” Shvetsky said.
The scandal surrounding Valieva broke out after it was revealed that traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found in a doping test after she won the team competition at the Beijing Olympics. Despite this, she was allowed to compete in the individual championships, where she finished fourth.
Valieva’s case is being considered by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The hearing was held in September, but the court postponed the case to November for the preparation of additional documents. CAS will issue an opinion at the end of January 2024.
Previously Tutberidze ignored Grand Prix stage in Samara.
