CSKA General Director Roman Babaev said that goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev earned 8,600 rubles per month under the first contract with the army club. Babaev quotes the words “Sports Express”.
“Akinfeev came to me in the old office when he was young. I remember being very shy. If my memory is correct, the salary was then around 8,600 rubles per month,” said Babaev.
Akinfeev is a graduate of CSKA. Playing a total of 751 matches for the Red-Blues, the Yellow-Reds kept 314 goals clean. With the team he became the Russian champion six times, won the national cup seven times and won the UEFA Cup in the 2004/05 season. The goalkeeper is celebrating 20 years since his debut in top-flight football in 2023.
