Barcelona’s Spanish international centre-back said they should “stay away from that kind of controversy”; “We are all united here,” he warns.
Iñigo Martínez, the Spanish international central defender of FC Barcelona, has taken the drama and controversy out of Robert Lewandowski’s rebuke to Lamine Yamal during Barça’s last match, against Deportivo Alavés last Sunday in Montjuic.
In one of the Barça attacks during that match, Lamine opted to shoot at goal instead of passing the ball to Lewandowski, something the Pole reprimanded with a gesture. Lewandowski even appeared to deny (or not see) Yamal’s immediate greeting as he prepared for the corner.
However, Iñigo Martínez has said that of these reprimands “there are a thousand in every game” and stated that the next one might have him as the protagonist.
“There are a thousand such reprimands in every match. It happens that he concentrates on one action and makes a world out of that action. Robert has already given his explanation, I really didn’t see that moment. The team is very united and the relationship between them is spectacular. I repeat, there are a thousand per match, the next one will be the same, but I always think positive and never try to make my teammate look bad. Here we are all united, there is a great team. We must stay away from those kinds of controversies where it does not contribute much to us in quotes,” said the former Athletic player in the press room of the Spanish national team.
Lewandowski’s explanation:
“The situation is just a coincidence. It’s a normal situation on the field between two players shouting at each other. There is no bad blood or bad intentions between me and Lamine. Everything is fine and there is nothing hidden in this situation. There There’s really nothing wrong.” is not “There is nothing to say about all this,” Lewandowski had explained in recent hours.
