President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) Elena Vyalbe believes that the president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach may change his mind about the admission of Russians to tournaments. His words were quoted TASS.
“They have been living with this double standard for a long time. What Bach says today does not mean that the same words will be repeated tomorrow, that he will be able to say something of his own or present something new.
I’m sure as a former athlete he wants everyone to compete, but there are also sponsors who dictate what should be done. Therefore, Russia needs to be canceled – they canceled it. But it’s okay, let’s wait, they themselves will get on their knees, they will still beg,” said Vyalbe.
At the end of February 2022, the IOC issued an appeal to international sports federations, recommending that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions due to the situation in Ukraine.
On October 12, the IOC announced the suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) until further notice, following the inclusion of the Olympic Councils of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions in the Russian organization. Additionally, the final decision regarding the admission of Russians to the 2024 Games has not been announced.
Previously Thomas Bach statedThat the PRC violated the Olympic Charter.
