Conor McGregor, the former champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in two weight categories, responded on his social networks to the news that Usman Nurmagomedov was banned from competition for six months due to doping.
“I wasn’t surprised when I learned that team member Khabib Nurmagomedov tested positive for steroids. Hypocrites of the highest order. Steroids are haram! God’s shame hangs over the Nurmagomedov clan. Scammers! Abdulmanap is turning in his grave,” McGregor wrote.
On November 11, Nurmagomedov was disqualified for six months for an anti-doping rule violation and the result of his fight with Primus was annulled. The BJPenn publication reported that Nurmagomedov will be stripped of the title and, accordingly, his opponent will advance to the Grand Prix final.
Nurmagomedov, 25, remains undefeated. He has 18 mixed martial arts fights and has come out on top in all of them, eight by knockout.
