Rasmus Hojlund has revealed how he plans to learn from former Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo, who was his idol when he was young.
- Hojlund is a big Ronaldo fan
- Admire the superstar’s hard work
- He has not yet scored in the Premier League
WHAT HAPPENED? Hojlund has spoken about how Ronaldo has influenced his career after following in the Portuguese superstar’s footsteps by signing for Manchester United. The Denmark international hailed Ronaldo’s willingness to work hard as one of his best qualities.
WHAT DID THEY SAY? “Cristiano has always been my idol since I was a child. I always thought he was the best footballer in the world and I just tried to learn from him,” he said TeamViewer diaries. “He’s also probably the best goalscorer of all time. I always looked up to him when he was more of a dribbler and now he’s a real goalscorer. You know he had real talent but he worked hard to become the best ever .” and that’s what made me like him.”
AND ALSO: Hojlund also spoke about how he can improve his game at Manchester United and how the role of the striker has changed in recent years.
“In modern football we also have to press hard from the front line. The game evolves, and I learned that even in my younger years,” he added. “So I’ve always been used to pressure. And like you said, I think it’s one of the things I do well. The coach also wants me and the striker to make an effort, so yeah, that’s good.”
THE BIG PICTURE: Hojlund has yet to score for Manchester United in the Premier League, but regularly finds the net in the Champions League. The Dane has already scored five goals in Europe’s top competition, leading the list of first scorers, alongside Atlético Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.
