Five months after leaving Manchester United, the Madrid native is still free to sign for any team; His return to LaLiga is a possibility.
- Real Betis are interested in De Gea
- De Gea has been without a team since June
- Rui Silva and Bravo, currently injured
WHAT HAPPENED? According to “El Desmarque”, De Gea is keen to return to Spain after spending almost 13 years in England. The Spanish publication assures that Real Betis and De Gea have started talks and that both parties are willing to finalize the agreement. The Greens and Whites want to complete the signing of De Gea as their starting goalkeeper, Rui Silva, could leave the club in the coming winter window and they would only have Claudio Bravo, 40 years old, left. Rui Silva and Bravo are injured for the derby with Sevilla this Sunday, and Manuel Pellegrini will have to help the reserve team’s goalkeeper, Fran Vieites.
CONTEXT: The Spanish newspaper reports that the club will use the “Isco formula” with the former Atlético de Madrid player, which is a short-term deal on lower terms and which would be beneficial to both parties. However, the 33-year-old goalkeeper, previously United’s highest-paid player, will only be signed if the Seville club raises enough money. Betis general manager Ramón Alarcón has acknowledged that the team has exceeded the salary cap and that Silva is likely to leave his position.
