Ukrainian sambo wrestlers will not boycott the World Championship and will be accredited

Sambo wrestlers of the Ukrainian national team participated in the World Championships and are currently going through the accreditation process to participate in the competition. This was reported by RIA News Referring to the International Federation of Sambo (FIAS).

“Ukrainian athletes came to Yerevan for accreditation for the World Championships (the process takes place in one of the hotels in the city). “It is planned that 10 sambists will participate in the tournament.”

The World Championship will be held in Yerevan (Armenia) from 10 to 12 November. A total of 65 countries applied for participation.

The Ukrainian sambo team boycotted the European Championships in September 2023, as well as the World Championships in Kyrgyzstan.

In accordance with the decision of the FIAS Executive Committee, athletes from Russia, Belarus, France and refugee teams will compete in neutral status.

The competition will be held in 21 weight categories.:

Women: 50 kg, 54 kg, 59 kg, 65 kg, 72 kg, 80 kg, +80 kg;

Men: 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, +98 kg;

Combat Sambo: 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, +98 kg.
