“Of course, I complained that I was an unlucky person. Life has treated me cruelly and unfairly. At that moment, I connected everything to life. Why me? Why? He looked like he was working and doing what he loved, his family, his kids. And it all ended suddenly. Amputation one, two. I cried bitterly and realized that this was the end of the world. How can I lose my legs and arms, even though they console me that everything will be okay and that prosthetics will be made? “I thought, ‘Why did I let such people live?’” Kostomarov said.

At the beginning of January 2023, Roman Kostomarov was hospitalized after New Year’s performances at an open-air show. It was reported that he was in intensive care due to pneumonia and was connected to a ventilator, and his condition was considered to be extremely serious. He later received treatment in Kommunarka. Parts of his upper and lower limbs were amputated.

At the beginning of July 2023, the skater was discharged from the hospital. On June 26, Kostomarov posted a video in which he received prosthetic training. Then he began to frequently post pictures and videos on his social networks from various workouts: in the pool and in the gym.
