Domenico Tedesco, the head coach of the Belgian national team, who was previously the head coach of Spartak, described the red and whites as the biggest club in Russia. His words guide the way Standard.
“I was the coach of Schalke and Spartak Moscow. Spartak is the biggest club in Russia. If someone was injured or a player did not play, this was also of national importance.

Tedesco took charge of Spartak from 2019 to 2021. The red-whites finished the 2020/21 season in second place under his leadership. He was appointed head coach of RB Leipzig in December 2021. He was sacked in September 2022 after losing to Ukrainian team Shakhtar in the Champions League.
In February this year, Tedesco took charge of the Belgian national team. Together with the team, he reached the final stage of the 2024 European Championship in Germany.
