The International Olympic Committee (IOC) responded to coach Eteri Tutberidze’s proposal to conduct a lie detector test on all participants in the trial of figure skater Kamila Valieva. The words of the organization representative are quoted as follows: TASS.
“The IOC’s position has not changed. We want to see a quick solution for the organisation, the interests of the athletes in question and the integrity of the competition,” he said.
A doping scandal broke out around Kamila Valieva during the 2022 Olympics. A banned substance was found in the sample taken by the athlete in December 2021. They wanted to disqualify him from participating in the Games. Literally the day before the start of the women’s individual competition, it was decided to admit her to the tournament, where she finished fourth.
If the decision is positive, the Russian team may lose the medal in the team tournament in which Valieva competes. New hearings of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the figure skater’s case will be held on 9 and 10 November.
Previously Natalya Bestemyanova suggested Tutberidze’s words are “put on the brakes”.
