25 clubs from seven different countries became champions during the 62 editions of the continental competition that have been held.
A new final has arrived, a unique moment in the history of the Copa Libertadores. Throughout history, 25 clubs from seven different countries have taken part in the continental competition, with Argentina being the country that has won the most titles by far: 25, compared to 22 for Brazil.
In 2019 the big definition was between River and Flamengo. Ultimately, the Brazilians took the title in Lima in a blood-curdling final. In 2020, the final was one hundred percent Brazilian between Palmeiras and Santos, executioners of River and Boca respectively. In the end, Verdao won 1-0 with a goal on the hour and was declared champion for the second time after more than twenty years without being able to become champion.
The 2021 final again featured Brazilian protagonists and once again Palmeiras won it: They won 2–1 against Flamengo at the Centenario Stadium in Montevideo to claim two-time champions of the Americas.
Brazilian hegemony continued in 2022, when Flamengo and Athletico Paranaense met. It became a 1-0 win for Mengão thanks to a goal from Gabriel Barbosa.
In 2023, Boca managed to sneak among so many teams in Brazil. They will play the final against Fluminense at the Maracaná on November 4.
