The strong winds that have been battering central Spain since this morning have forced the suspension, without a date announced at this time, of the first round match of the Copa del Rey football match, which Gimnástica Segoviana was supposed to play against Sestao River from 7:00 am next Thursday at the Municipal Stadium of La Albuera.
Since early in the morning, the possibility of suspending the clash has been considered, as gusts of wind in the capital Segovia have forced the closure of parks and gardens, as well as all outdoor sports facilities.
The official announcement came less than four hours before the match was due to start. According to Segoviana’s statement, “the measure is intended to preserve the health of the teams, the media and the public present.”
“The tickets purchased for this match will be valid for the new date set for the match. We will communicate this date when agreed between both clubs and the RFEF,” they added.
