Stanislav Cherchesov, the former head coach of the Russian national team, talked about the situation with Spartak Moscow captain Georgy Dzhikiya, who was not included in the team’s starting lineup. His words are quoted “Match TV”.

“When a player with a certain character is “prickly” you have to take him for what he is. Those who should be playing on the field are athletes who bring results, not lapdogs. It is impossible not to experience friction in such a club, especially in football.

There is a trainer in the circus. One trains tigers, the other trains lap dogs. More precisely, he is training. These are different things, but they both educate. “I advise everyone to calm down, relax,” said Cherchesov.

Dzhikia has been playing for Spartak since 2017. With the club he won the championship and the Russian Cup. The defender has only played in six of a possible 13 matches in the Russian Premier League (RPL) this season. The club’s contract expires in June 2024.

Spartak, which collected 20 points after 13 rounds in the RPL, shares the sixth place with Paris Nizhny Novgorod and Lokomotiv. In the 13th round, Guillermo Abascal’s team lost to Fakel with a score of 0:2.
