“I have a trick; apparently I can’t defend the title anywhere. I’ll try it next time. But overall I hope to do it in Paris or somewhere else,” Medvedev said.
Medvedev won the ATP-500 tournament in Vienna in 2022 and could not defend the championship this year. The Russian tennis player has never won any tournament more than once.
In the rankings of the Association of Tennis Professionals, Medvedev ranks third with 7,355 points. He is the best of Russians. Serbian Novak Djokovic continues to lead with 11,045 points.
In the semifinals, Medvedev defeated Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas. The match ended with the score 6:4, 7:6 (8:6). The duration of the game was 1 hour and 45 minutes. Sinner defeated Russian Andrey Rublev in the semi-finals with scores of 5:7, 6:7 (5:7).
Medvedev reached the finals of ATP competitions nine times this season and managed to win five of them. On October 8, Medvedev sensationally lost to the US representative Sebastian Korda in the third round of the tournament in Shanghai, with scores of 6:7 and 2:6.
