Former Spartak coach Alexander Tarkhanov supported red-and-white forward Alexander Sobolev, who refused to talk to journalists after losing to Voronezh Fakel in the 13th round match of the Russian Premier League (RPL). His words are quoted by the publication “Euro-Football.Ru”.
“Journalists also need to have etiquette. They should write down what actually happened. And not just inventing and absorbing news or something out of thin air,” Tarkhanov said.
The reason for the rejection was not the team’s defeat in the match, but because journalists wrote inside stories about the striker’s relationship with head coach Guillermo Abascal. On October 18, journalist Ivan Karpov reported that the Spartak head coach suspended Sobolev from training with the team for a disciplinary violation.
On October 28, Sobolev played a full match against Fakel. The match ended with the score of 0-2 for the red-whites. The goals were scored by Ruslan Magal (from the penalty spot) and Maxim Maximov. In the 70th minute, Moscow defender Srdjan Babic was sent off.
