CSKA goalkeeper and captain Igor Akinfeev criticized social networks in an open letter sports.ru.
“When I started there were no social networks. Even journalism was different: a pen, a notepad and a voice recorder were considered luxuries. You realized that getting caught was not going to happen. There are now 25 cameras after the match. Someone wants to offend, someone deliberately asks stupid questions and is looking for a fool to catch.
The situation is the same in social networks. To me, this is just a place where there are 348 opinions against you, 323 of which are opinions that you screwed up. This is my football experience. But it is already clear to me that I was wrong. Why listen to sarcasm? Every athlete has a chance not to live on social networks. “Otherwise, you will be immersed in someone else’s life, not your own,” the football player wrote.
Akinfeev is a graduate of CSKA. Playing a total of 749 matches for the Red-Blues, the Yellow-Reds kept 313 goals clean. With the team he became the Russian champion six times, won the national cup seven times and won the UEFA Cup in the 2004/05 season. The goalkeeper is celebrating 20 years since his debut in top-flight football in 2023.
Previously Akinfeev named The hardest moment of my career.
