Former Rostov head coach Sergei Balakhnin spoke about the team’s upcoming match against Lokomotiv in the 13th round of the Russian Premier League (RPL). In his comment to socialbites.ca, he explained why the Rostovites should play carefully and also reminded the motivation of the red-green forward Artem Dzyuba in the match against coach Valery Karpin.
“In any case, Rostov is playing at home and will strive for victory. But Lokomotiv is a team with very fast wing players in attack. This will be a trump card for him, Rostov will have to act carefully.
Of course, Dzyuba’s desire to annoy Karpin will undoubtedly be greater. This will do Rostov no good; the player will have extra motivation,” says Balakhnin.
Dzyuba played under Karpin in Spartak. There a conflict broke out between the player and the coach, which lasted for several years. Karpin, who was also the head of the Russian national team in 2021, invited the player to the national team, but Dzyuba did not accept the invitation.
The match between Rostov and Lokomotiv will start on Saturday, October 28, at 16.30 Moscow time. Competitors will be judged by Alexey Sukhoi.
