Russian Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Islam Makhachev said he wants to participate in Khabib Nurmagomedov’s fight against Australian Alex Volkanovski at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi (UAE).
“He would have liked to be here with us today, but he is a man of his word. I have corresponded with him now.
What did he write to me? “What kind of bomb are you? Alhamdulillah Jr. Clearly designed.” That’s all their message,” Makhachev said at a press conference after the fight.
On October 21, Makhachev scored an early victory over Australian representative Alex Volkanovski in the main fight of the evening at the UFC 294 tournament in Abu Dhabi. The Russian player defeated his opponent by knockout in the first round and defended his title for the second time. The previous meeting between them also ended in Makhachev’s victory.
On February 12, 2023, Makhachev defeated Alex Volkanovski by unanimous decision after five rounds at the UFC-284 tournament in Perth (Australia).
Now Makhachev has 26 fights and 25 victories.
